Summary
Cordierite-Mullite combines low thermal expansion of cordierite and high refractoriness & rupture strength of mullite, its main mineral constituent is cordierite, mullite & glass phases. Cordierite-mullite became to be a modern refractory material original from Europe. It is used widely to fire ceramics products under 1,300℃, i.e. tableware, sanitary ware, powder calcination, porcelain insulator, it is used to build up both kiln car and kiln lining as well for low thermal mass and clean lining.

Cordierite-mullite kiln furniture is used world widely for firing potteries, porcelain & bone china. It can be used as primary kiln furniture for basic loading and also can be formed into the shape of loaded pieces to guarantee the shape of wares after firing.

Sanitary ware

The excellent thermal shock resistance of cordierite-mullite makes it well suited to the fasting cooling stage during sanitary ware firing. Cordierite-mullite batts combines SiSiC beams is a typical kiln car structure in most of sanitary ware plants now which provides relative more useful space and lower fuel consumption. Shaped cordierite-mullite setters provide well shaped supporting to the fired pieces.

Powder Calcination

Cordierite-mullite can be used to produce fine kiln refractories for the powder calcination process which brings good performance and cost benefit.

Porcelain Insulator

The low mass design with cordierite-mullite kiln furniture used widely to fire low voltage porcelain insulator under 1,300℃ especially for improving the loading efficiency of small pieces. This system provides lower investment cost & lower fuel consumption comparing with traditional Silicon Carbide kiln furniture for insulator firing.

Kiln Insulations |
